JAPAN CAR INSPECTION (JCI)
Japan Car Inspection (JCI) is a legal inspection of cars. The 1st JCI comes three years after a new car is purchased. Afterwards, JCI inspections come once in every two years until the car runs 10 years on the street. People usually take their cars to the dealer they have bought their cars from. The dealer replaces old parts to charge about ¥100,000 in the first JCI. The price often doubles to ¥200,000 in the 2nd JCI, triples to ¥300,000 in the 3rd JCI, quadruples to ¥400,000 in the 4th JCI.
